What's the deal with tea? Every kind I've tried has just been kind of bland and bitter, and if you have to put half a bag of sugar in something for it to be palatable I don't think it's quite right. Do people just pretend to like it or is my sense of taste horribly deformed?

I am addressing fellow 'mericans here only. If you use teabags, do it this way: pour boiling water into a large heavy mug. Hold three bags by the string, and dip them in and out of the water in the mug 30 times. (typical 'merican with a 200 inch plasma tv and a separate lexus in the driveway for each family member "3 bags! fuck, can't afford to do THAT!") You will be surprised at the mellow rich flowery flavor. That is all--back to teafaggotry.

/kitchen/, I gots me a turkey today and I'm going to cook one for the first time ever. But that's not what this is about.

This is about giblets.

I want to use them. I can't stand to waste anything, and I've recently begun to broaden my horizons when it comes to what animals and what parts of animals I'll eat.

I don't want to make gravy or stock. I want to try something different. Does anybody have any ideas?

Stock and gravy are usually the easiest options.. but there are others:

1) Hearts are good meat. Grill `em.

2) Livers -> cook `em like any liver, I guess. Oil, beer, onions.

3) Gizzards... make sure you clean then inside and out, but then do whatever.

4) Necks are kind of... lean and gelatinous meat, iirc. Treat `em like ox tails. Soup's the best bet here, really.

4) Necks are

I can't stand innards. However, I also hate waste. This is why I have a compost heap. I can't regularly afford meat, so my compost heap is 90% banana peals.

boil it all, chop it up, save the stock, and make dirty rice.

Water? No. But the soil is signifigantly different. And I fail to see the importance to your referance about the flag colors..

I agree with the anti-bagel sentiments here. Bagel has too high bread content. Try it with English muffins.

Hey /kitchen/. First time coming in and I'm not so big on cooking (have a wife and all), but I wanted to ask you guys a question related to following story.
Back in elementary school I would take the barbecue sauce we'd get from chicken nuggets and mix it with the cornbread and eat it. I got in trouble because some other kids thought it was gross. Have any of you ever had a similar experience eating something normal to you, but grossing out others unintentionally?

Guess what /kitchen/? It's that time of year! Eggnog is on the shelves! YES! Who here loves eggnog, and what's your favorite brand. Also, if you an alcoholic eggnog drinker, what type of alchy do you like to put in your 'nog? Also, post some eggnog recipes if you have them!

I would have to say that Wilcox or Horizon eggnog is by far my favorite.

I used to make eggnog on Christmas and Thanksgiving. But I haven't in years and I have no idea why. I should make some this year. And then make bread pudding or french toast with the "left-overs". Oh man...I'm gonna be so fat by New Years.

When I was kid and ate cookie dough, my mom would say, "don't do that, there are raw eggs in it" so I would say, "then what the fuck is eggnog bitch?"
>> No. 2926

My mom used to give us the extra dough whenever she'd bake, which often had raw eggs in it. The only thing she didn't like us eating raw was hamburger. Told us we'd get worms and I'd picture myself scooting across the floor on my ass like the dog and laugh my head off.

Anybody here miss their school cafeteria food? I do. I loved their dried hamburgers, square pizzas, that turkey chunks w/ glop that I've never found the name to, etc.

I agree with everyone else. Good thing was a friend of mine - his mom was the head of the cafeteria. We'd go to his house to get drunk, a BIG TRAY of PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES in the kitchen. Good times.
