2883 No. 2883 watch
/kitchen/, I gots me a turkey today and I'm going to cook one for the first time ever. But that's not what this is about.

This is about giblets.

I want to use them. I can't stand to waste anything, and I've recently begun to broaden my horizons when it comes to what animals and what parts of animals I'll eat.

I don't want to make gravy or stock. I want to try something different. Does anybody have any ideas?

i'm not someone who munches intestines, but what about roasted liver?

I eat all the turkey innards but I just boil them up. My sister and I once got into an argument on Thanksgiving over the neck, which is retarded but at least I was only 10.

WE HAVE NO IMAGINATION.

i suggest chucking everything in a blender and making a smoothie out of it. I can try it first if you're all to scared. /kitchen/ needs more pioneers.

The only time I ever had (beef) tripe was in a soup, where the intestines were cut into strips kinda like onion slices, then in a creamy broth (maybe gravy for turkey). I'd imagine this would go pretty well if you're not looking to obliterate it ala >>2887.

Frying is always a good, simple solution.

Filipino fag here. two ways you can cook the gizzard, liver and hearts:
1:
slice and clean, make sure you open up the gizzard and wash it thoroughly (a lot of funky stuff in there).
Marinade in soy, garlic, ginger and a lime juice.
Skewer
Barbecue (don't overcook, as the muscles will harden).

2) for the gizzard
open up, slice into thin strips
beer batter
deep fry

pic related, it's gizzard bbq

Turkey innards can be used for soup stock. I had a soup made with a few necks and it was quite tasty.

Stock and gravy are usually the easiest options.. but there are others:

1) Hearts are good meat. Grill `em.

2) Livers -> cook `em like any liver, I guess. Oil, beer, onions.

3) Gizzards... make sure you clean then inside and out, but then do whatever.

4) Necks are kind of... lean and gelatinous meat, iirc. Treat `em like ox tails. Soup's the best bet here, really.

4) Necks are

I can't stand innards. However, I also hate waste. This is why I have a compost heap. I can't regularly afford meat, so my compost heap is 90% banana peals.

boil it all, chop it up, save the stock, and make dirty rice.

boil em, salt em, eat em

Clean it and dice it all up, fry it all with bacon, onion, and a bit of pearl barley, and you're golden.

DO NOT USE LIVER FOR STOCK.

gizzard is good deep fryed.
If you dont have a fryer just boil it all till its halfway done then throw in a skillet with vegtable or grapeseed oil (pretty much anything except for olive, it burns to easy) add garlic, onion, and spices.
